Government networks form a platform that enables the delivery of digital services across the entirety of the Isle of Man Government (IOMG).
The Design Authority will ensure that the network is architected to provide the appropriate level of:
- Availability
- Resilience
- Performance
Management and day to day support of the network will maintain effective controls, ensure that it is monitored and managed ensuring exemplary levels of service delivery.
Good network design should create a user experience that the network is transparent, resilient and ubiquitous, with the right balance of quality, speed, security, control and cost.
Understand the user need
Different networks have very different characteristics, IOMG is increasingly distributed with people working from home or in other government buildings. Flexibility and the access anywhere principles will be at the heart of the Design Authorities network design. Projects and programmes should:
- Know business services the users depend on
- Know what network services they rely on to access them
- Know what data needs to be secured
