Smart Services
The Isle of Man Government has many systems; many with overlapping functionality and duplication of data. By adopting a smart and cohesive approach to delivering new systems (and enhancing existing ones) through intelligent reuse of "smart services". Utilising a cohesive Smart Services approach should enable the Government to begin a phase of digital transformation that will result in leaner, smarter systems that will allow the Isle of Man Government to provide better public services.
The Design Authority has defined "Smart Services" as any isolated, self-contained system functions that can be reused by another system. By adhering to the TCOP Open Standards and Integration standards, Government systems will be able to make use of Smart Services.
In the coming years GTS have committed to providing some initial common services for Government systems:
- Authentication
- Audit
- Payments
- Notifications
As more systems begin to utilise and contribute to Smart Services, the need for large bespoke development projects will diminish as systems will be delivered using a composition of functions resulting in a break from the monolithic large scales deliveries.
