IOMG Technical Standards: Data Outlets
- Data outlet installations shall follow industry best practice and be in accordance with relevant technical and health and safety specifications.
- Cat6 outlets should be the minimum specification for user faceplates, which in conjunction with Cat6 standard cables will be capable of 1Gbps data transmission rate.
- All outlets will be provided with shutters that automatically close when patch leads are removed.
- All four pairs of each UTP cable shall be terminated onto the rear of the faceplate via Insulation Displacement (IDC) techniques using the EIA/TIA 568B wiring scheme. All IDC connector blocks shall be permanently fixed to the faceplate.
- Outlets must be clearly labelled to match the equivalent patch panels in the local wiring cabinets.
