IOMG Technical Standard: DHCP
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a network service used within the Isle of Man Government to assign usable internal IP address to client devices.
- If required, devices can be assigned a reservation where they are tagged to a specific IP address within a DHCP zone. (Admin PC's, Printers, Kiosk terminals, etc)
- DHCP is not used for live infrastructure devices (Servers, Switches).
- GTS is responsible for ensuring any device replacements update the reservations where applicable except where the replacement has been completed by a contractor, in that case they are responsible.
- GTS are responsible for the server and running the DHCP service including backups/ patching. All-encompassing for providing the service availability
- The network Contractor is responsible for maintaining the DHCP scopes including capacity planning and management as determined by GTS.
